…I discovered a true ‘tour de force’ in regards to professionalism, judgment, and the capability of how to teach people so that they know exactly what is being asked of them and excel in their capability. Adele Clark left such an impression on me at such a young age that when I turned 18 and moved to Vancouver, I looked her up in the phone book and contacted her with regards to giving me private vocal lessons. She kindly agreed and from that moment on both a personal and professional relationship began that continues to flourish to this day. In my opinion, Adele Clark is the most excellent teacher of voice that I have ever come across. Her teaching style is one that encourages pupils to work hard and excel in areas they didn’t know they had. Adele Clark encouraged me beyond words, and it all culminated in a solo show I did at the Backstage Lounge on Granville Island in 2001 entitled Purely Sondheim which played to a standing room only audience. This performance, directed by Ms. Clark has been a true highlight of my career which has included leading roles in Disney’s Beauty & the Beast, Cabaret, Miss Saigon, and most recently Doctor Atomic, an opera co-financed by the New York Metropolitan Opera and the English National Opera which I performed in at the London Coliseum. …It is with complete and utter sincerity that I can say that Ms. Clarke is a class of her own with regards to encouraging and believing in any pupil who is lucky enough to have a working relationship with her.
